Wegen picks

Anybody know of the WEGEN Gypsyjazzpicks? How do they compare sizewise to a dunlop jazz? Do they really fatten up the tone of a strat? thanks

The way you play and the way you set up your amp and guitar can do that to you, but in my opinion, "boutique" picks can't.

Swapping out pickups is another, more expensive solution.

The gypsy picks are way too thick for an electric. I use one occasionally on a guild acoustic strung with 12's but mostly the bluegrass as a general acoustic pick. You should try the big city pick 1.4 (thicker than a jazz III but much thinner than the gypsy 250). Or try the new larger jazz that Dunlop makes. The wegen will sound better but does have a sharper click to the attack due to its mass.

I love Wegen's picks, I have probably 30-40 of them!

If you want to fatten up the tone of your strat use a heavier gauge string set.

I use the Wegen 250 "twins" exclusively now. I used to use Jazz IIIs and I think the Wegens are an easy transition from those. I love(!) the grip of the Wegens. You can get used to the 2.5 thickness fairly quickly, but they certainly aren't for everyone. They way I look at it is if Pat Matino can play as fast as he does with a rock, then a picks thickness shouldn't have to hold you back. That said, the attack will change.
