A Fender Rory Gallagher Strat. To pay a tax bill. Still miss it everyday.

1963 Gibson EB2-D that I puts Barts and Badass on (yes, it was the 70s). I know people will insist that the D model didn't come out until later, but I will swear the date written in pencil on the label under the F-hole was 1963. It was my first bass and had a very cool tone. I sold it because I wanted a Starfire (which took me 11 years to find, pictured below, which has turned into my favorite bass ever) and was going to head off to Berklee the next summer and thought they'd laugh me out of the school with a Gibson hollow body. Little did I know that the guy who started the bass dept. (Steve Swallow) also played an EB2-D with the pick! I should have followed my original vision instead of trying to play a Fender and hating it.

'62 fender strat. Bought it in 79 for $450. Worst move I ever made was trading it. Regret it to this day.

I parted with a '62 strat.

Don't miss it one bit. I get more excited about my $200 Danelectro, in fact.

I NEVER allow my gains from selling to be spent on mundane things like rent or food. I ALWAYS use the proceeds to fund the next GAS purchase, usually an item of similar value. For example, I sold a Line 6 amp for $200 and a '86 Charvel for $350, then bought a nice Gretsch with $500. Made $50 net; no out-of-pocket to knock it. Or, sold a dead Marshall for $200 and bought a nice Mexi strat for $250, completely unused. Not even a scratch on the pickguard. The only way not to feel sellers' remorse is to enjoy your new toys!

'67 Mustang. Car not Guitar. Damn. Damn!

'75 BMW 2002. Automatic with A/C and moonroof. Do you know how rare that is??!

Original Yamaha NS-10's - good lord - I sold them for a song.
1979 Takamine Acoustic / Electric - something special about that instrument.

You say to yourself .....what was I thinking ...?
