i am looking for that sound and i cant get it from my boogie or bad cat - need more chunk - bogner- deisel- sans amp pedal ???
i want another boutique amp for the studio and i want to acheive that sound or should i focus on the recording end - love that fat sound

I've mixed a bunch of live stuff for them and Lindy now uses Laney believe it or not. Not sure if he used it then though.

It is all Laney with an SG and a gretsch guitar. In the very beginning he also used a lany top, but with marshall cabs. I am a very big fan of HIM too, and i am very curious how to get such a tone in a daw, so please if anyone knows these things..............

I know that tim palmer has mixed the last two albums and they sound great!

Laney is a more british amp than marshall apperently.
It's got higher gains, with more clarity supposedly.

But you want a good crunch, with some bass end - and not so much top end.

Does anyone know what mic Ville Valo of HIM uses in the studio for albums such as Dark Light? It looks like he uses a sm58 for stage.

I would like to know as well... That is one of the best sounding rock albums from a few years ago. The Guitars and drums absolutly crush on that..

I believe it was tracked in LA.

anyone?

my venus doom

thumbsupI interned for Mr. Palmer for some of the mixing sessions.

Ville tracked into a Neumann valve 67.

Lipstick used a Tama Starclassic kit, and Amour played a '76 Fender Precision bass through a Mesa Boogie amp and an old Prince combo. He also used a Hamer 12-string bass. Burton had a nice old Wurlitzer, and the Roland V-Synth and Fantom synths. I think he had a Clavia Nord Modular, also. and yes Laneys and small marshalls as well.

Everything was record at Finnvox studios in Helsinki and mixed in L
