Apogee donates recording gear to M:Gray Music Academy, LA, USA

Apogee Electronics has provided Macy Gray’s M:Gray Music Academy with professional recording gear to enable underprivileged children in the Los Angeles community to realize their music potential and explore their talents in an inspiring environment. The M:Gray Music Academy, of which Apogee is a Gold Partner sponsor, is a non-profit organization that aims to offer affordable after-school and weekend music programs, as well as scholarships and sponsorships.

The M:Gray Academy was founded by singer/songwriter Macy Gray, who runs the organization alongside a famous and influential group of board of directors (Polly Anthony, Erykah Badu, Common, Damon Dash, Cameron Diaz, Will I Am and Justin Timberlake, among others). In providing the community with inexpensive after-school and weekend programs, the school offers a positive alternative for underprivileged children and teens. Statistics have proven that music programs decrease community crime rates and keep kids focused, as well as help sharpen their math skills. The M:Gray Academy strives to “surround our youth with music as an instrument of peace and a valuable and enriching way of filling the after school hours” (www.mgraymusicacademy.com).

Apogee CEO and President Betty Bennett comments, “We are pleased to be able to contribute to Macy’s remarkable Academy. At Apogee, we support efforts that encourage and offer music education for our youth. The Ensembles in the recording studio, along with our sponsorship of the programs, will give the children a chance to more deeply engage in music and the recording process. We are honored to be a part of that growth.”
