Building My Small Project Studio

Hey, I just got hold of a small premises to set up a little project studio. It isn't on the scale of some of the projects I have seen on these forums, but I thought some of you maybe interested any way. Here are the photos of work in progress.
It is only a small unit thats is part of a converted chicken house, based on the Isle of Wight UK.

Hey Guys,
Made some more progress today, mainly in what is going to be the small control room area. I do apologise for the boring shots but some of you may find them interesting.............maybe.

building-my-small-project-studio-pic-9.jpg
Today, I have grown to dislike rock wool after trying to make it stay in the right place! May be I try some rigid 703 next time?

building-my-small-project-studio-pic-10.jpg

Some Sticky tape should do it!

building-my-small-project-studio-pic-11.jpg

And some plasterbaord is up.

building-my-small-project-studio-pic-12.jpg

....................................And some more

building-my-small-project-studio-pic-13.jpg

Getting the rock wool to stay in the ceiling was a great bit of fun . A job that required the ever useful duct tape. Where would we be without it.

The Soundbloc came to day and thankfully avoided being left in the rain.

building-my-small-project-studio-pic-21.jpg

Managed to get a 1 whole sheet of 8 by 4 up on the wall and boy this stuff is heavy. 15mm stuff so hopefully it should help reduce the sound.

Got to love my wonky camera work, or maybe the room itself isn't square?

nice one Jim,

I'd be interested in more details, where you got the materials, construction details, how effective the soundproofing is etc.

I'm hoping to be doing something similar soon.

Well lots have come and go over the years but as with everywhere there are loads of home/private studios.
There is a superb independent music college on the isle called "Platform One" running further and higher education courses fitted with some excellent studios. Two Audient Desks, one of the old Allen and Heath Sabre series too. Lots of outboard from Focusrite and Neve all in beautifully furnished rooms. This is obviously only really open to and run by their students and doesnt have experienced Producers/engineers running the sessions. www.platformone.org
There is another studio that runs commerically called Coneblowers which is run at the top of a residential house. www.coneblower.co.uk/ I have heard some really good stuff come out of this place even though its a modest set up they are still getting great results.
Thats about it really apart from a few kids who have started up with small set ups in their bedrooms.garages etc who record a few local bands. http://www.audiotrak.2ya.com/
