Thanks, really appreciate the support! I know that this is not going to be all sunshine and butterflies, but I really feel that the reward is so worth it.

Lately been getting a lot of positive feedback on my mixes as I'm trying to figure out ways to better promote myself and to show perspective clients what I have to offer over other studios in the area. I have definitely been taking a crash course in marketing myself being removed from the local scene for some time.

Thumbs up

.

Musicians, don't get so caught up in your music that you forget the world around you (I know it's tempting).

Gearheads, don't get so caught up in your gear that you forget the world around you (I know it's tempting).

You only have one life - and it's bigger than only music and gear.

That said, with balance, both music and gear can bring a lifetime of enjoyment.

This weekend I tested out my Neve 511 on vocals and acoustic guitar. Amazing preamp for the money, definitely worth it. Really wanting to get another one.

Got some sessions coming up on Wednesday and Thursday. Hopefully, everything goes well.

Update.

May was a busy but productive month. I now have a business advisor and in the process of looking for a space. Up until this point, freelanced as well as did demos at my home studio. Already have projects lined up for the summer. Things are just really working out right now and I'm so grateful for the support I've been getting from my family.

UPDATE:

After a busy busy summer and a tireless search for a commercial space, I have finally found a place! It's a really neat space that I'll be cohabiting with a film/tv studio in downtown. I'll be able to rent as many rooms as I want and be able to have access to the whole building if needed, which is around 8,000 sqft. I'm going to start off with two rooms and expand when I can. I'm also allowed to build out how I see fit.

The owner, really liked that I also had a film background and was very interested in collaborating on projects whenever possible. He's also wanting to put a music venue in part of the space, which will attract a lot of bands my way. It's just really crazy how things are falling into place right now.

UPDATE:

This week has been a crazy week! Just signed a lease on a second story loft in downtown for the studio. Really amazing location! Probably going to post a studio blog about the build out on a different thread.
