Hud Visits Nashville

Got to spend a little time with George Massenburg in his new massively-diffuse room at Blackbird during my recent stay in Nashville. I listened to a surround mix he's doing for a country artist as well as 5.1 mixes by Pink Floyd, Beck, Toy Matinee, the soundtrack to Kill Bill 2 and an incredible Japanese anime flick. The room sounds amazing. Special thanks to Blackbird studio manager Vance Powell for the great tour. He even let my girlfriend hold the studio's stereo E-LAM 251, the rarest mic in the world. That's pretty slutty.

Also spend some high-quality hang time with Shikawkee and Bob Ohlsson at Michael Wagener's WireWorld. Michael was just finishing up mixes on the new Skid Row album. What did we talk about? Gear, record deals, gear, The Boss, gear, sushi, gear, you get the picture.

Ed, we slept in reeeally late after the Basement gig and even showed up at Blackbird late for our 2 pm appointment. Thanks again for your hospitality and for taking on driving duties. Jeanne was so impressed by how nice you and everyone treated us on our visit. Can't wait to come back!

Pancake Pantry is over-rated, Noshville all the way!

Glad you enjoyed your stay in Nashville. Blackbird is a trip! Georges room is beautiful.

Yeah, that mic closet is unreal! It's almost too much.
