Upgrade me

I believe in software. I own quite a few multi-GB piano libraries, but as of today my favorite piano sound is less than 79 MB:

Playing the NordPiano has made me realize that VI's aren't quite there yet. While they may well be sonically superior, they can't counter the immediacy of a well-designed hardware instrument.

And the NordPiano is just that, a great instrument.

Then try Piano in Blue Kontakt library. Possibly the best sounding VI Piano.

I bought that when it first came out, it's a dud.

Here's why:

I agree that the Velocity response is finnicky. I personally program the piano, so I wouldn't know how it sounds when it's played (latency wise).

Not to be a dick, but then why did you comment at all?

It's clear from the OP that he's talking about the superiority of the complete instrument from the player's point of view.

"While they may well be sonically superior, they can't counter the immediacy of a well-designed hardware instrument."

It's amazing how many people seemingly re-write every GS topic in their own head, so that it becomes an invitation to post about whatever they use.

He's not just talking about latency, by the way. He's talking about the way an actual musician interacts with an actual instrument. Could be a piano or guitar or violin or harmonica. Though there are exceptions, this would not generally apply to a VI. And I believe that is the OP's point.

I've noticed the controller has a great deal of influence over the velocity and touch sensitivity of vi piano's

In my own head, I started hearing this re-interpretation of the old Nirvana tune, going something like:

"Upgrade me... upgrade me, my friend..."
