The world wont end in 2012!

Just watched a movie and I think the world might not end in 2012!

Hay its the matrix!
Neo from India!

The Quantum Activist

Filmmakers Ri Stewart and Renee Slade tackle a weighty subject -- quantum mechanics -- in this thought-provoking documentary that centers on visionary scientist Amit Goswami and his revolutionary theories about reality and consciousness. Without watering down too much of the science, the film illuminates the details of Goswami's work while putting forth challenging new ideas about mysticism, God and religious thought.

The world wont end in 2012!

Now you've ruined it. I was hoping for everybody giving me their nice gear, since they will not need it in 2013!

Luckily enough the science comes pre-watered down...

I can't believe people actually get anxious about this kind of stuff. I READ IT ON THE INTERNETS SO IT MUST BE TRUE OH NOZ THE WORLD IS ENDING IN DECEMBER BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

I'm bumping this thread in January 2013 and I can guarantee you this will not lead to more rational and cogent thinking on anyone's part.

I don't expect the world to end but this whole Mayan Calender deal is a lot more serious then some idiot saying the world would end in 2011 or the rediculous Y2K scare. Many people I know think "oh after 2012 they will just predict a new year" to me none of that matters. The Mayans pridicted a long ass time ago that the world would end and their opinion is still around in speculation, so unless you do the same and your guess stays in rumor for some time the prediction hardly means shit.

All I'm trying to say is, end of the world or not, you have to give these Mayans credit that people actually gave a damn after so long. If you're a man of God... or woman you shouldn't have an issue discarding the prediction. Man or woman of science however unless the chance of random differences in their equation change the events to happen, well they could be right.

Also the Mayans did NOT predict the end of the world. The Mayan Calender ends as they claim its the end of an era, its the end of the world as we know it. Something major could happen and that could change everything. It doesn't have to be scientific however it sure took science to take a guess. Which takes up back to what came first, the chicken or the egg.

Why are people so determined to debate if the world will end or not. I ask because it's usually 100% of the participants in any such thread who think it won't.

Oh wait a minute, this is a joke thread isn't it. Hmmmmm.... my posts are always twisted, enjoy.

Well, yeah, it's an end of an period they marked as a Baktun. You have to stop chiseling your calendars at some point, a few thousand years out seems as good a spot to stop as any... My work calendar ends on June 30, 2012 for marking the fiscal year, I doubt this means my job ends then. Of course if our civilization is wiped out before someone gets around to adding more years to my calendar...
Amazingly they didn't see their own demise, though they can see ours.

The world won't end in 2012, maybe the people as inhabitants will disappear. Those are 2 different things, yet often confused

As a historian I can assure you that such outlooks and prophecies are as steady with mankind as is the need for a religion.

Well, as you may or may not know,Hostess has filed for bankruptcy and I firmly believe that they feel that there is no longer a reason to make a Twinky that has a shelf life of 50 yrs if the world is gonna end soon. Maybe not 2012,but SOON!!!!\\fb

I just realized that the calendar displayed in my kitchen also ends on the 31th December of 2011 and it's not even a Mayan one..... We're definitely doomed!!

I thought the last Maya states were subdued by the Spanish in 1697, so their world ended over 300 years ago.
