Thread Starter | I thought I would share this story with you. A while back we sent a demo SOC compressor to picksail in New Orleans. Picksail decided to keep the compressor, but before we had time to close the deal, hurricane Katrina hit the city. Eventually picksail got back to his studio, which we have read previously was pretty well destroyed. So picksail packed up the SOC and sent it back. This particular compressor has been shipped from NZ to Virginia, on to Dave Martin in Nashville, then out to alphajerk in Ashville then on to picksail in New Orleans. It endured the flood, then was sent to Florida and lastly back to New Zealand. Somewhere along the line the proper packing was lost, and it's just been wrapped in bubble wrap in a carton. There are several broken toggle switches and the front panel is bent and there is a lot of rust visible, but it still works - perfectly! I really don't know what I should do with it now. Any suggestions? Cheers Tim. |

| Tim, great story! I'd first take a pic of the Survivor SOC, post it here on GSz, then on the Buzz website. After that, I don't know - maybe put it on a pedestal in the Buzz shop and leave it patched into a radio on some de-compress setting! That, or give it away to some gearslut who has a convincing story about why he or she needs it. What a testament to the build quality of your equipment!! I think it says alot. thumbsup |

| If you'd like, I could demo it on a track I'm about to lay down which is about the N.O. levee's and hurricanes... Maybe we could keep it in the Gulf of Mexico region for the upcoming Hurricane season... send it to the studio closest to the impact zones, and see how many more hurricanes it can survive... could be some sort of World Record in the making? Just brainstorming here...

| Tim, I'm so glad to hear that it arrived in working condition. I do recall that when I initially received the unit it did not include the original packing material and the front panel was bent. The only issues that I was able to assess, after having brought the unit home from the studio, were the two broken toggle switches ( on/off and stereo link) that were the result of a fall. Otherwise, the unit was perfectly fine apart from a few rusty exterior screws. I was amazed that it survived. Nice work Tim!!!! |
