Thread Starter | Good news, I'm booked solid!
Hopefully this cheers some people up. Things can be tough in our business, especially the first several years while you're establishing yourself. So I started thinking, hmmm. . . Maybe I'm getting there? Not made yet ('cause you should never think you have it made, of course!) I do this full time, but it kinda hit me tonight. So here's my schedule from the last few days going through the next few. Saturday - Mixed Podcast for clients (hour program culled from a 5 hour remote) that goes on a clear channel website. Clients Happy. Fixed annoying hum in Euphonix that no one could fix in about 2 hours. Studio Owner happy. (He better be, damnit!) Soldered 2 new headphone extenders out of blue Mogami and Neutrik ends. Wow. . . (I'm weird, I know) Sunday - Spent in another town recording orchestra, wind ensemble, and choir in a NEW hall designed by Kirkegaard. Sounded GREAT! Clients Happy. To do: Monday - Record choir during the day. Make first pass at mixing a hard rock Project. I didn't track the band, and they sought me out at the studio I work for now based on work I did at another studio for 'em! Tuesday - Hip Hop Mastering session. (I'm not really a mastering guy, but people have really been digging what I've been doing to their 2 mix.) I have no association with them whatsoever, I did one song for 'em 2 weeks ago. Now they're back for the rest! I'll also have 2 hours of meetings at a university getting ready for a surround conference next year. The evening is capped off with a solo vocal demo thing- a local (I'm in Iowa) has some interest from a producer out in Hell - A. Not a big deal but cool. (As much as we all hate to admit, these American Idol thingies help to pay the bills) Wednesday - Finish up previous hard rock mix w/clients (I'm doing half on my own, final rides, etc w/clients in the room) Master another engineers church choir project. Thursday - Latin Pop LP Mastering Session. (I'm starting to see a trend here. . . Time for better monitors, right?) Another meeting at the college. Start heading this carribean/funk project I've been laboring on for months to the finish line. Oh yeah, and sleep in there sometimes too. |
