Im quitting heroin this week

Good news everyone! Ive decided to quit smack/oxy/fent/hydrocodone/opiates! This week in fact.. Not that Ive been addicted to it for years; its just the dependency and WD's that have been the deal breaker. Writing and mixing have taken over as the number one pleasure in my life.. Just wanted to let everyone know just in case there was another little 'slut out there in the same boat. Music, family, dreams and life have won over here -

opiates can suck my d REAL hard

Good to hear! dependencies from pharmaceuticals can be a tough one to break, glad you are making the progress.

Hope you live a long and prosperous one and enjoy the music! :D

Great news.

Opioid withdrawal (unlike alcohol/benzo withdrawal which can cause seizures and death) is not lethal on its own. At least not to my knowledge.

But I'm sure if you've been doing it a while, having a supervised methadone or other detox program would be helpful.

I hope you have access to medical care, and if you do, take advantage of it.

Good luck.

Do you know what drugs do to your hearing and senses in general?

one day at a time....

get help if you need it, it's out there. Find someone who's done it a stick close to them and find out how. You'll never regret not using, or so I'm told. Good luck.

I feel your pain. I have been on Elephant drugs since the age of 6 min. - it must be due to those damn hippies that I call mom'n'dad. My doctor says I have to cut down on the BIG E, or I might die in 50 to 60 years - but its a tuff ride man!!! I'm only 40, I do not want to die in as little as 50-60 years!!! I'm to young to die.

(in case you are serious - please ignore my post)

Thank you so much for the support guys

Seriously.. Seeing all of your replies honestly made my day. Especially from jules ~ a busy man!

I can truthfully say there is a direct correlation between not being able to afford the gear I want & need and supporting the dependency - and Its been eating away at me. Id honestly MUCH rather have a damn api2500! I didnt really know what to expect after posting this thread. I was just in one of those moods... Its really, really nice to bring it out into the open though. Not only does it give it less power, but its feels so nice even if just for a moment to feel like Im not living a double life.
Ive done this dance so many times before.. one detox after the other. Im so ready to move on and start being the person I was meant to be.. When I think about it, I feel so bad thinking about what could have been by now if I hadn't been flushing my money, time, life and talent down the toilet.

Its amazing what can happen when you just put a little bit of yourself out there - thanks for the replies guys. Seriously. You have no idea how much even this means to me.

I'm typing this in the waiting room about to have another nerve block in my spine. I don't really get a "BUZZ" anymore, but the opiods releave the pain. I'm sticking with 'em for the time being.

I've heard time and again how it's gonna change...it rarely does my friend.

We all have moments where we realize that our lives can and should be better or feel intense guilt for things we are not proud of...that has nothing to do with heroin...that's life.

You know that the world won't all of a sudden become a fair place just because you go clean right?

What will be better is the fact that you'll have money to buy new preamps.

I've watched a lot of my family fall to drugs and alcohol and it's not going to be easy to quit...but it's worth it. Find a program and talk with others, get rid of the friends and dealers who are using and can pull you back in, and take it one day at a time. Kick that $hits a$$ to the curb...
