Exclamation Fame Academy has found a talent

To my utter amazement after watching a succession of woeful wannabe's getting ripped to shreds by a bunch of sadistic industry 'experts' who put them on the show in the first place, there appeared a really raw, unusual and fabulous talent in 19 yr old girl called Alex.

I think she could become a real star.

I like the suggestion in the BBC's Book Of The Future that Fame Academy will be replaced by Dame* Academy.

UK on line gossip column Pop Bitch (recommended) says that all the contestants are 'ringers' i.e. ALREADY have publishing deals from major companies....

I believe that...

Thanks for the link-.

I'd be AMAZED if they all had major deals BEFORE getting on the show, maybe once they get on the show they automatically get something.

I've subscribed, so hopefully I'll get the mailout that talks about it, never heard the term 'ringer' before..

It's an American sports term for - an amazing player hidden within an average team.

In Mash (the movie) - The camp brought in "Spearchucker Jones" to win the football game(albeit with the aid of a few injections!!!!!)... he was their 'ringer'.

Meatloaf - "a real dead ringer for love" (Bat out of hell) ???? Operatic / artistic liscence I suppose....

Here is the 'bitch' report in full for you...

>> Shame Academy <<
Ever feel you've been cheated?

Fame Academy is based on the idea that the
voting public can make an ordinary person's
dreams come true. But it's a lie. Most of the
contestants this year are seasoned professionals
who have been placed on the show by record
labels who've already signed them.

Of the first entries to Fame Academy, Louise
Griffiths sang backing vocals for Girls Aloud,
Al Griffen is signed to Trevor Horn's Perfect
Songs, and Carolynne Good is signed to BMG.

Other ringers include Nathan Thomas (a Univeral
signing, who wrote Another Lover for Dane Bowers),
Nicole Davis (signed with BMG publishing),
Janee Bennett (signed to Windswept Pacific Music)
and Mark Vallance (who is writing songs for 19 Music)

Britain's cynical music industry is using the
show as a focus group for their new acts, with the
whole thing paid for by gullible voters (and of
course everyone who pays a BBC license fee).

Oh well. Comfort yourself with the thought that YOU know (as does everyone else who reads this thread). In the meantime, mybe this'll cheer us all up (pinched from BBCi. And I'm not going to apologise).

Final Warning from the Ministry of Entertainment
Written by: Researcher 221735
Created: 17 March 2003

Dear Ms Marder

It has been drawn to our attention that you have not yet received your compulsory fifteen minutes of fame. Despite repeated reminders, you have still not appeared on any reality TV shows. This is your final warning. You must return this email with the options below rated one to eight, within one week. Failure to do so will result in your arrest and incarceration for a maximum of two months in prison (as shown on Channel 91).

Here is the choice of programmes in which you may participate:

Big Mother: Contestants care for war orphans from the War on Terror. The orphans vote each week to evict their least favourite 'mother.'

Big Lover: Contestants vie to be voted the most successful lover and partner to a member of the opposite sex. The least appealing is voted off each week.

Dame Academy: Contestants are locked in a country house and undergo gruelling training to become a pantomime dame, the winner receiving a role in 'Cinderella' at Eastbourne over the winter.

Bone Idol: Contestants sit around on a sofa and indulge in inane conversations until only one is left who hasn't gone mad with boredom.

Copstars: Contestants must police an inner-city estate. A panel headed by the Chief Commissioner of the force makes nasty comments. The winner is the last left alive.

Survivor (Iraq): Contestants must survive in a nuclear wasteland.

The Elizabethan (II) Country House: Contestants must survive in a house with only the primitive technology of the 1990s.

Please reply within 7 days.

Regards
