starting a new studio!

i've only been here sparingly lately partly due to work and partly due to working on setting up a whole new life really. due to my parents declining health (hey they're in their 80's...not a bad run, right?), i've decided to move back home. the other 2 co-owners of my current studio have agreed to buy me out and buy a lot of the gear i have bought for this place. they're buying the ssl, studer 24 track, and a lot of outboard.

SO...i'm going to be starting a studio based around my studer A-80 8 track, my ribbon mics, and my vintage UREI compressors. i want to get back to basics and make some raw music. there are a lot of really roots rock bands and traditional gospel quartets and all kinds of wonderful roots music happening back home it seems and i feel the need to document it. now i need to decide on a console and some other things. i'll be putting it in this old, really large, beautiful farmhouse i'll be purchasing with the money i am set to recieve for my previous studio (this is also going to be my new house. it's got 12 bedrooms haha). i felt i had to post because i'm just so estatic about leaving pro tools, overcompression, and the major record industry behind me. i plan on posting plenty of pictures and the whole deal. stay tuned

Great that you're getting back to the basics. I hope things work out for you and wish you good luck for your new studio.
