| Lives for gear | listening to mixes two days later! so i am back in Brooklyn from a long weekend in Boston. I mixed a record for a punky southern rock kind of band. Somewhat of a wilco vibe at times. I was supposed to mix in a room with an api summing mixer and a few pieces of outboard but i was double booked by a house engineer and i got the boot (that can go in the moan zone for another thread). anyway, i was able to book another room last minute with a trident 80 console. Whoa do I miss mixing on a real board. As I listen back to these mixes so many things just sound right. It really makes me want to get a board in my studio back in Brooklyn (possibly a soundcraft series II?) a huge part of my excitment was also due to a tuned control room by Blackmer. My low end is sitting so tight and correct. I haven't been this close, this quickly in a while. 11 songs in two days. STOKED.

| 11 in two days? wow. Good job! Boston is the place to go for Punk. Don't know why, just is. Yeah, mixing on a board is really the way to go. So many reasons. Watch out for Soundcrafts, they often have poorly integrated power supplies - so you'll get clipping before you actually see the red light.

| One for the many reason's that I track drums, bass and mix in a real "pro" studio with GOOD acoustique and a real console for my projects. It just cost here in the centre of Paris just around 500euro's for 2days (2x9hours full) in with a trident 80B console. Vocals, guitars and all other, just @ home with protools. Save the project and go go go gadget go the studio for the rest what is just 5min around my corner. Can't be happier with this workflow.
