Finally Got Bricasti!

Well,

Finally, the Bricasti finally arrived today after an almost 3 month wait for it to ship. I will let Bricasti speak to that issue. BTW, they were almost always available after the first couple of rings- more manufacturers should learn about that kind of customer service. This is still the version 1---V2 is still not ready to ship.

To the point: The Bricasti lives up the so-called hype that is has received on this board. Every single preset that I have tried is usable and professional. It is very important though that you take time to learn how to adjust the wet/dry gain balances. The setting will need to be different depending on whether you are using the Bricasti through aux sends- or if you are running the entire mix through the box.

Well, I just got back from a three hour gig and I am totally exhausted...

The Bricasti is the real deal, and for me a dream come true.

That's fantastic news. Congratulations.

You're going to want to have it on a aux/send. Running an entire mix into it is probably not the best way to go about making music, y'know? It's not impossible for it to work, but unlikely.

cheers,
c

Thanks C Because I was so anxious to check it out, I've just been going from the digital out of my Profire 610 into the digital in of the Bricasti, and then into my Dangerous Dbox digital in. I plan on hooking it up to my M-Audio Profire 610 differently later on this weekend and using it as an aux send. It still sounds incredible with running entire mixes through it- it just refuses to sound bad. Very cool

Actually it's not uncommon to run something like a Hall setting on the entire mix of a sample based orchestra to place the whole orchestra in a space and use short delays or early reflections on individual tracks to position and spread various instruments and sections in the stereo field. Here is an example of the technique:

Orchestral Stage Positioning Using Altiverb

Anyway to the OP - congratulations! I hope this brings you much inspiration and satisfaction.

Hey, thanks so much Casey! I know it has been a frustrating and trying time for you guys, but I pray that the positive energy that you have given out in your great customer service will also come back to you ten fold in your families and health.

It has been a blast, and quite addictive, running various mixes through the Bricasti. For example, I have been taking famous songs that were mixed dry like "My Favorite Things" by John Coltrane and seeing if the Bricasti degrades the mix or possibly improves on the sound. I can say with confidence that the Bricasti does not take away any from the original mix, but it gels with the mix to take it to an even higher level. I'm gonna stick with "higher level" and not the word "better" because I know some people will have a cow if I say that the Bricasti made "My Favorite Things" sound "better." Relax...
Bricasti could not save "And Justice For All" by Metallica though! Running that mix through Bricasti was revealing though- it revealed that that particular mix will go down forever in history as the most infamous and obstinate mix. I really think that album should be donated to the Smithsonian to be analyzed Still a great performance by the band though.

Wow, this has been one of the most enjoyable times of my life. I was able to get the Bricasti, the Dangerous D Box, API A2d, and use it with the Profire 610, I7 cpu, and Big Ben all together at 96k. The Digital audio age has been incredibly frustrating sometimes with formats coming and going, and all of the money spent on plugins and fads. But I feel like I can get back to really being creative without being stifled by the mediocre sound caused by jitter, phase issues, and 2nd rate reverb. Want a great mix? I suggest this (not necessarily in this order): Get great preamps, good mics, stable clock, great performance, good arrangement, lots of positive energy, and then throw in a Bricasti...

The Lord has blessed me beyond measure in my life, and I offer Him my heart and thanks. I also want to say thanks to all the people on this board that have shared their knowledge and taken the time to bless other people. I wish everyone mucho success and good health in the coming year!

I am waiting for my M7 from B&H almost two month now. Yesterday I called him and did`t have any light about delivery date. Probably the right sing is calling directly to Bricasti.

Hang in there Ijouk! I feel your pain man...Brian at Bricasti told me in one conversation that they were having issues with a vendor getting them parts. I know that's frustrating for Bricasti and their dealers- it potentially makes everybody involved look kind of "mickey mouse." The customer gets mad at the dealer, the dealers get mad at Bricasti, Bricasti gets mad at the vendor, and then everybody gets mad!!! By the way, I am not speaking for anyone or for how they may feel in reality, I am just speaking to typical human emotions. But again, on the positive side, I was quite impressed that the folks at Bricasti picked up the phone and at least tried to offer an explanation. Try to get a response from a "real" person from most any other manufacturer! How many companies that we know of pick up the phone on the second ring? [Disclaimer: That was my pleasant personal experience]

Brother, the biggest challenge you are going to face this year is not just waiting for the Bricasti to come in, but also dealing with the sudden urge to buy a second unit And I mean that with all sincerity...

Best wishes and know that it is worth the wait

It has been a combination of things. After this years AES, the number of sales jumped quite a bit, just at a time that we became limited in the number of systems we could deliver.

The pipeline is now catching up and the backlog is being reduced quite a bit each week.

Again, my apologies for the wait!
