Talking I love making music again!

Ever since my band broke up back in late '05, I haven't been able to make music. You know, really lay something complete down. This has been the worst case of writer's block I've ever had - by leaps and bounds. I think the longest I went without finishing a song before that was about 2 months.

I beat myself up all the time about it too. It was probably hard for my friends and family to watch. Without music, I was withering away - intolerable almost.

I lusted after gear for a long time to fill the void. Read a bunch of overpriced magazines and lurked around on this site. I bought a lot of great pieces along the way; some not-so-great items too. cough*focusrite cough*

Annnnnnnyway. This week, it happened. I plugged my shiny new SG into my Mesa. I mic'ed that beauty with my K2; drove that Pacifica to it's knees;double tracked a riff in Ableton Live that just flew out of my hands as if riding the wings of a fiery pterodactyl, swooping over the remnants of an ancient alien civilization...sonic bombs crashing down on me, a shower of cherubim, cheerily stealing my balance for a while to knock me off my feet so that I may bathe in the yoga (oneness.)

- I was all - HOLY SH**! That guitar riff sounds and feels so dang amazing! That tone is kicking my butt so hard that I can't stop listening to it! I love music so much!!!

Writers block - begone with ya ugly ass! POW! I feel like a kid again! RAWK.

I think many of us go through similar experiences. I thought I'd share the good news. It's no Grammy, but hey...I'll take it!

I'd like to thank my wife for never giving up on me. I'd also like to thank Gibson, Ableton, Mesa, A-Designs, Rode, UA, Antress, M-Audio, Digidesign, Waves, gearslutz.com, kvraudio.com, Microsoft, Intel, Newegg.com, facebook, myspace, cdbaby, and most of all, thank you Joshua Aaron of audiolot.com for talking to me for almost 2 hours and making me feel important enough to spend 2k on a mic pre.

I'm back yo! Much love! Here's to 2010 being the year of ROCK!
