Thread Starter | Paypal Policy Change UPDATE for the BETTER!!! Just got off the phone with a Paypal rep. Just started recently. Paypal will now cover you if you buy things off Ebay now. The previous policy of "we paypal we only cover you 100% is if you buy on Ebay and use Paypal combined ". From what I was told on the phone with a rep. This policy is now over. They will now cover you for purchase off Ebay. All you have to do is use paypal. Like hear on Gearslutz classifieds. However, I was told E checks are no longer offered. This was my cheapest way of transferring money in $1000+ range. Because it only cost $5 vs. paying 3% of what you are transferring. I hope this good news helps you all. |

| No more Echeck?! - that's unfortunate. It did take abit longer to clear, but saved slot of $$ in fees. I'll miss this service for sure.

If any of this happens on a craigslist transaction or elsewhere, Paypal will try to get you your money back on a "best effort"... which means if the seller has emptied his account, you're SOL. | |

| These are my experiences this year. (buying and selling) I'll give you the Reader Digest version I bought a Bogus Nuemman Mic in January and it took 5 months to get my money back. Paypal worked but I had to jump through a lot of hoops. I also paid with a CC (Though Paypal) smart because I double protection if Paypal had not covered me my CC would have. Selling: Sold my old iPhone sent it off to Verified Buyer with Confirmed address. I sent the iphone with tracking number and SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION (VERY ! IMPORTANT!) The buyer did a chargeback on his CC 2 months after the sale ( $500 removed from my account) I got my funds back 6 weeks later - not very many hoops to jump through as I used Paypal/Canada Post to ship the iPhone. Anyway I got all my money back and learned some valuable eBay lessons. |
