I just started a myspace site for an artist I've been working with.

It's FUN!

Here it is!

I've linked to a lot of great bands and musicians I've worked with on my myspace page. Maybe you're in there already!

If any of you gearslutz need some drum tracks, or possible collaborations, let me know...

yeah, myspace---for me only pain in te ass...I don't find the page where I can upload my songs...

They did't even delete my account after I emailed them with the order to do so.

I just dont find it. And who can tell me, what is the difference between a usual member and and an artist?

It's all so embarrassing

Yea....... it can be a pain.............

You need to have an artist page to have songs, you have to delete your account or use another Email before you can open another account.

Good luck !

To create an artist account, simply go to the navigation bar on top and click on "Music", then once in the music area you'll see two navigation bars. On the lower one, to the far right you'll see "Artist Signup". Click on that.

To cancel the account, got to "Account Settings" and look for "Cancel Account" along the top. It's in red letters. Click on that. I don't know where it takes you, because I don't want to click on it in case it might cancel my account. But once you do this, you can make a music profile with the same email. Or, if that doesn't work, you'll have to use a different email for one of those accounts.

thanks guys, it turned out that I had created two member accounts on my 2 email adresses. The funny thing is, I can remember that I deleted one account long time ago, they said it would take 48hours to delete it, but it never did eversince! yesterday I tried it again, and voila, it was deleted almost immediately, now my artist page is online, tracks are uploaded, but they will take their time to get avtive, too.

Oh well, seems like it works now, I just checked my profile

here“s my link

i find it hilarious that at one point in time somebody was mad over somebody else making a myspace group dedicated to a website he enjoys

Cheers

PS........Is there a gearslutz group on myspace?

EDIT...After a quick search I found the Gearslutz group. Rock on y'all.

Does Myspace only allow 22 Khz 96kbps files now?! I know they used to allow some high quality mp3s but everything I have heard on there lately was of that lo-fi variety. Some were virtually unlistenable.

I tried contacting Myspace about this twice, but each time all I got was a link to the same unrelated response on their site.

Thanks.

Eyesore,
All of my songs had been encoded at 320k/44.1 with no problem - the last one being uploaded in early August, so I was a little doubtful about your question. Since I wanted to post a newer song, I went ahead and encoded it at the same rate to see if indeed, anything had changed. The newer song times out at just over 5min. but I was hoping there'd be no problem. Well to make a long story a little less long, I ended up editing out about a minute so I wouldn't be forced to encode to a lesser sound quality than I'm willing to settle for. I ended up at 192k and just under their new file size limit of 6megs. Phooey and Ptui!! I know - it's free so I can't complain.

The download feature isn't activated on your songs, so I can't test one out. However, I downloaded 3 songs from two different other artists today, and both were that same 96kbps mp3 with 22KHz sampling rate.

myspace has been a godsend to us. Shows, connects, label contacts, 60,000+ plays, and not to mention several thousand fans from all around the US.

we wouldn't be where we are without the help and access that myspace gave us. What an amazing media machine!!! We luv it!

Add us, check out our music, and say hello!
