I actually had a girl who 'knew me' from myspace come to our last concert... which was a drunken mess, by the way, but still fun... and she ended up following me home after the show- but then following me around in person for the next week. I ended up having to use every single rejection line in the book before she got the hint, and it made me feel like quite the assbag. But that's what you get when you merge the online world with the off, sometimes. BTW- best meeting of online personalities I've ever had? No question about it, the Gearslutz NYC meeting when Jules came to town. I'm dying to have another one!

I can't believe that guy started a Geaslutz.com group without consulting Jules. That's quite rude and I'll be removing myself from the group.

I've got a gazillion add requests I need to sort through

I'll add anyone from gearslutz. I love this place.

Web presence is huge...

Anything with the Gearslutz name is an extension of this site...the name is synonomous with this site, Jules, and his reputation.

That 'group' represents THIS site and therefore anything assocoiated with that 'group' is immediately associated with this site.

If Jules has no control over the content...he has no control over how that group will affect this site.

Just not a healthy place to be or to put someone.

I doubt it was with any harmful intent...It just surpised me to find out.

Peace and Respect,

The originator of the group sent me a PM saying the group is no more. He has removed it with his apologies. Apparently hes been banned here.

Interesting:

Sigur Ros have their entire album (streaming only) up on MySpace. you can play all tracks in their entirety.

They're on a major label too!

Its been a growing trend. If memory serves, Foo Fighters, BlackeyedPeas and a couple other major bands have had their tunes up before the album dropped. I think its a great idea

Weezer and NIN have also. NIN seems like the big player in the land of myspace music right now..

I believe some tracks of Fiona's new album might be up, but I could be mistaken.

everybody's on my space... i knew it was gonna be big when last year they did a big promo for "the anchorman" and will farrel had his own profile under his character's name...

yes, fiona apple has a space, including trax she did w. jon brion that were not released. the black eyed peas are there, my chemical romance, 50 cent (fity), and there are a lot of fantastic independent artists as well...

genius idea.

I have a friend who got some calls from major labels after they spotted his music on MS. Not a bad way to promote yourself for free.
