It's real alright. Well sort of. Not real rocks. I have this crazy / genius artist friend that made them for me. We call him SpackleAngelo. They are made from 1" and 1 1/2" pieces of styrofoam that he cut up and threw a mixture of colored spackle, sand and other contaminates on. He put them on the wall like he was a stone mason. Except instead of have to use a chisel to shape them he just cut them with a jig saw!
I wish he had a website. Maybe then he wouldn't be a starving artist.

Wow!... That’s Styrofoam?!? I’d love to find out how he does that. That’s exactly the look I’ve been wanting to get in my entrance/hallway. Any way I can contact SpackleAngelo for pointers on how to do that? That looks freakin’ awesome! So what did it do to the sound of the room?

This is what I know.
This was the first time he did the rocks.
He has done fake stucco walls for me before.
He takes spackle and mixes pigment and sand into it. Usually 3 or 4 batches with different color variations. Then he just does his magic to the wall. It looks easy, but I'm sure it would look different if I did it.

For this wall, I wall, I asked him to do more tuxture, so he came up with the idea to do rocks. He took 1" and 1 1/2" rigid styrofoam sheets, broke them up and started throwing spackle at them. He used spackle to attach them to the sheetrock and spackle to grout them.
Now you know why he's called SpackleAngelo!
PM me if you want some more pictures.

Hey Bongo, where in the Poconos are you located? I used to live in the area (Scranton, Clarks Summit to be exact) and still go back that way to work with a couple of bands and need some place to work. So..... what kind of gear do you have? Is you studio open to the public? And if so, what are your rates?
