Smile Jeff Beck soundcheck fun!

I've got passes for Patty Smiths 'Meltdown' festival at Londons Southbank... Free eats backstage with the crew and Johnny Marr was good. but as we looks for our seats we got treated to Jeff running though Red House by Henrix and a Meters song.... Amazing... Then they let the public in.... awesome.... Patty has been host here for 2 weeks as artistic director.. tonight is the finale... a Hendrix tribute evening...Graham Nash is here.. it will be a star studded evening... more reports later...

Turns out Emery - who is Patty's live sound man also does a lot of studio work... including the last albums by Patty & Antony & the Johnson's.. I got chatting to him backtsage at the wrap party... and he's a Gearslut! Views this site... He was recording the shows with some MOTU interfaces & Audio Deck - which he was saying is very stable...

To be honest the Jeff Beck soundcheck was better than his performance of the gig it'self.. There were about 30 people in the hall who caught it.. I think everyone knew they were seeing something real special..!

Excellent!

Photo look surreal, like aboard some weird flight craft.

The sound was really good at the A&TJ gig. Are they planning to release the recordings?

HA!

Gearslut "rlnyc" (Richard Lloyd of Televison) played that night too! (was great!)

I could write a book about the 3 evenings of her festival programme that I attended..

Patty Smith & Steve Earl - Salt of the Earth night
Patty Smith - performing Horses live
Patty Smith & friends - Are you experienced? Hendrix tribute concert

I think I respect, admire & APPRECIATE Patty Smith's "call to revolution" she is demanding that people try to make a difference in society... So much better than the latest haircut bands...

I want to record the revolution!

I am not sure about A&TJ... there was an unconfirmed wisper of the Horses gig recording going out with a possible re-release of Horses sometime in the future...

Revolution is a exciting theme...

Have you heard Perry Farrell with the Theivery Corporation on the new Cosmic Game album, track is called "Revolution Solution"..
when he's talking about getting frustrated with things he sings "unexhausted has been my virtue", I love that.

that's tony shanahan with him, he has been playing with patti for years now. and the following picture is jeff with pino pallidino, who played bass with him that night. with flea and tony and pino, it was a bass clinic delux. (as well as every other concievable thing)

best regards,
the ANONYMOUS rlnyc.

guitar shop is the record that i still after all these years admire.

maybe you know the mozart movie, an in there is a scene when salieri looks at a partiture of mozart and says " i see god behind those little dots and stems".
for me it is the same feeling when i listen to "where were you".

Blow by Blow - Reached number 4 on Billboard album charts in 1975. Highest charting instrumental album I believe. Can anyone imagine today's record buyers buying MUSIC of this caliber today?

A&R - "The public won't buy it; not enough skin". "It's not loud enough."

Yep, times change....the album was well marketed, had fanstastic players, melodies and dynamics. Oh yeah, George Martin producing.
