Thumbs up Taylor Swift New Album "Fearless" Thoughts

Recently picked up Taylor swifts 2nd album titled fearless. I have to say I'm really feeling the production and the playing on the record.Very tasty. Bunch of talented cats playing on the record. Vocals sit really well and i Think Taylor does this pop/country style very well vocallly, she has a pretty voice...not the best i've heard but fits really well with what shes going for. Kudos to her and her Producers Scott Borchetta and Nathan Chapman.

Aside for the playing the mixes blow me away. I believe Justin Neibank mixed (Rascal flats, Keith Urban) it and its really a grade. i was checking out his mixes out in the studio and in my car. The bass and bottom end are quite impressive.. very well separated and clean but so dam huge without getting in the way of the vocals and acoustic instruments. Everything sounds dam good. Perfect for the genre whatever you call this style these days (pop and country..)

Even if your not a fan of the style i highly recommend ya'll check out the cd to check out the production and mixes. pretty darn solid.

Kudos! taylor and team and congrats on a great record.

Lets not turn this into bashing top 40 music thread thanks!
Why ask for our thoughts if you don't want to hear what we think?

This post probably should of been in the "all about the music" area.

Why not? If you can like it, I can dislike it right?

not sure why this album has so much hype (aside the hyper-obsessive teen/tween fans)... I've listened to the record over a dozen times now and none of the songs seem very striking or impacting, or catchy to an extent, including the lead single 'love story'.

I think the engineering/mixing/playing sounds fantastic though! just wish taylor wrote albums with songs that don't all share the same exact chord progression, lyrical platitudes, and pedestrian themes

Yeah, but unfortunately, the engineering/mixing is just as cliched and "more of the same" as the songwriting.

This is entirely because Madison Avenue LIKES it this way.

They are the folks who buy the radio and TV commercials and rule what can get played on the air.

Jake , I agree completely. Amazing musicians and mix. Justin Niebank is so good at making a live band sound modern and hard hitting.

I love the dry vocal sound he gets on this album . I`d love to hear suggestions on how it`s done. Short delays? Reverb but very low level?

Thanks!

Recipe: Take one poor singer ala Taylor Swift and mix liberally with AUTOTUNE. That's how it's done.

If you mean is being real better than fake, then yes.

But there are great singers from every era.
I hate the whole Milli Vanilli business model.

Neko Case has a true nostalgic sounding country voice (she can also hit all the notes). She puts Taylor Swift to shame.

I just bought it and listened to it the whole way through. Some truly fantastic songwriting ( "The Best Day" ) and some mediocre stuff ( "Love Story" ). To be fair though, it was definitely a good album and and some really catchy as balls parts that I found she wrote herself alone, it made me a little jealous I didn't think of it before hand.

A good album

8.5/10

.

speaking of real versus fake:

this whole "fake artist" vs. "real artist" is not only irrelevant and stupid,
it's also INCREDIBLY BORING...

so do you have anything ORIGINAL YOURSELF to contribute here?
in a section designed for positive energy?

do you have a REAL opinion of your own?

or do you just spew the same old predictable rhetoric we've all heard a GAGILLION times here?

i'm sooooooo glad you're soooooooo sophisticated that you can get on a message board
and bash successful production, meanwhile elaborating on your remarkable ability to discern
"credible art" from "everything else"...

newsflash: everyone here has different taste. get used to it.

this is the good news section.

get a life...parrot.

ok, rant over.

Justin Neibank rocks - the RF stuff is amazing. and TS's vox sound perfect for what they are.

...i'm not tryin' to compare TS to FZ, MM or Miles...it's just a hit country pop record.

i agree, the song-writing doesn't make me want to buy the cd.

...but they're not exactly trying to sell to my demographic...

but, imo, the mix and vox do sound great - perfect for that big pop hit radio vibe.

Oh, ok.......

If this thread is supposed to be about all things positive then tell me exactly what, pray tell, is positive about constructed, "fixed", time aligned, boring ass, auto tuned shit? Take your "positive energy", crystal gripping nonsense and peddle it to somebody else because I'm not buying.

Really? Because I distinctly remember him asking for anyone's thoughts on the album.

Nothing about Taylor Swift is good news..........................

And neither is any news about your opinions on shitting on warm fuzzies.

Haha I just had a funny response on YouTube. I looked at Swift performing Love Song live at the CMA Awards, and I was like "Seesh, no autotune here and it tells, she doesn't sound like she does on the album" and a teenie fangirl replied

you don't know what you're talking about... she doesn't use an autotune on her album and no one uses one live...

Guys , let`s keep it friendly , ok?

it`s fine with me that people don`t like the Taylor Swift cd. I don`t think anyone here are trying to "convert" you.

I like it (I`m not the OP btw , I think he gave up this thread a long time ago) and there are aspects of the sound I REALLY like. I think Justin Niebank did a great mix.

To me, that`s what this forum is great for. By posting here I might run into someone who ´s worked on the album and have first hand info.

We`re really just discussing gear and it`s use , true? In that context , saying "it`s shit" isn`t interesting. It`s more like trying to pick a fight. I don`t see why people bother fighting over something they don t like.

Peace all around ?

Thomas

I'm not bashing it in the sense it's a "bad album", on the contrary, I really, really like it. Just saying the comment I received was hilariously ignorant.
