United Kingdom, nil points. Well, not quite! But jeebus... I really liked the Latvian song, albeit a bit sentimental but not bad.

Congrats, but I am a Javine fan.... she reminds me of one of the Ikettes (dancers for Tina Turner, I saw them with Ike & Tina when I was about 14 - it made a LASTING impression!)

Norway ruled. I thought we'd win though but we didn't even finish in the top 20 I think. No offense ppl, but I think there's too big a difference between the west and east (particularly the north-west) of Europe for this ever to become interesting again. The eastern countries all have weird, foreign-sounding songs and we've all got the stuff WE like. And since there's a shitload of ppl living in the east, this competition will never again be what it once was...an annual competition in good (and a tad bit too commercial) classic pop craftsmanship. Since a lotta these recent countries came into the picture, the fun's gone out of it. I just don't get these weird eastern tunes...I just don't. It's lot a put-down, I just don't get it. BY THE WAY...who was that gangster-wannabee hip-hop-thingie guy? ![]()

Congrats to Greece! Well, the Eurosong voting is local-patriot act anyway ...All Nordic and Baltic countries will vote they neighbors, all Balkan states will do the same, etc... Which kind of explain why UK, France, Germany, etc are going to have a hard time in the future if the rules don't change. And Andorra’s 12 points has the same weight as, let's say UK, France, Russia or Germany. BTW, Javine had the very eastern flavored song (listen to the oriental string arrangement!). Cheers!

That's because that's all the rage nowadays, it seems. I think the small countries with virtually no music export are the ones most proud of finishing in the top segment. Gives them self confidence, I guess. But this contest is and has always been an evening of crap, no matter where it comes from :0) By the way, the chick who sang for Greece is SWEDISH! ![]()

It is sad when you think that the Eurovision Song Contest used to be an opportunity for the song writers of Europe to show their best work and the standard was such that it was a real 'competition'. Nowadays the music seems to have dropped to 'lowest common denominator' tripe. Imagine if Abba entered the contest nowdays as a new group, would they still win with all the political voting that now takes place?? Cheers, Rich
