Woo! Another 'hit'...

After being absconced in the countryside at Ridge Farm with Toolskid earlier this year, I returned to my studio and mixed an album for Portsmouth band Jets Vs Sharks. Their last release did very well and this one looks promising too.

It scored a rave KKKK review in Kerrang! this week, here it is:

Jets Vs Sharks

These Tired Monuments

(Cat N' Cakey)

KKKK

They've got nothing in common with 'West Side Story'.

Sometimes a band comes along that you want to see in a basement so bad you'd move house to make it happen. Jets Vs Sharks belong in a dark and claustrophobic room with drums thudding at chests, bass vibrating off walls and sweaty, veiny-necked men screaming at the top of their lungs. This Portsmouth quintet remain one of the finest - and most under-rated - hardcore bands in the UK. And this time around they're sounding more versatile, incorporating elements that remind you of Hot Water Music one minute and Jimmy Eat World the next. It's rough and tumble and invigorating - exactly the way hardcore should be.

Download: 'Vampires'
For Fans Of: Hot Water Music, The Bronx.

And Rocksound like it too:

7/10

Jets Vs Sharks
'These Tired Monuments'
(Cat N Cakey)

With 04's mini-album 'Our Bodies Our Anchors', Jets Vs Sharks caused quite a stir and then proceeded to blur into the background almost as quickly as they had pricked up ears all over the country. But the Portsmouth quintet have set about growing into their own sound and with this release are creeping closer to doing so. Melodies spiral in and out of the brash, erratic guitars and brutally spat vocals, with the essence of early Michigan noisemakers Small Brown Bike. Gripping and edgy, Jets Vs Sharks perform right from the gut, splurging their insides on to a canvas. There is a sense of angst and passion in their delivery which when sincere is clearly always welcomed. If 'Our Bodies Our Anchors' rocked your boat then you're going to love this.

Congrats, man!

( - And feel privileged for the positive feedback. The average audio guy isn“t exactly allowing, making only rare exceptions.)
