First Record Review

I just got back my first record review yesterday. Pretty exciting, and funny. It's interesting to hear others opinions on stuff you've lived with a long time.
The band's name is eL. Recorded by Jeremy Hunter in Nashville, Mixed by Charles Dye in Miami, and produced by myself everywhere.

I'll give you a sneak from the release show done by newspaper out of Ft. Lauderdale/Miami:

El performed tracks from its new self-titled release, an amazingly slick production for a self-financed indie band. The entire album has singles written all over it ... if it were 1994. That's not a knock, just that outside of Coldplay, few Brit Pop acts make their way into the stateside charts these days. But there are those that linger on the fringes, like Starsailor and Keane.

While El continues in this tradition, they are definitely more in the Oasis camp than any of the others. In fact, most of these tracks could have been outtakes from the classic Definitely Maybe. One track after another the blistering sound of guitars leaps from the speakers.

In the demo, the strongest track was It's All Over. It has been reworked here and curiously placed as the last track. It's still a strong track, but if I were a record label rep, Gimmie A Feeling would be my first choice as a single, with its bombastic drum rolls and crunching guitar riffs.
