Avedis MA5 has arrived

and wow. it makes all of my microphones sound so big and juicy. It definitely assures me that mics like a 421 can make a killer vocal mic. well worth the wait!!!

however, DI on synths.. radial DI --> MA5 doesn't really have a substantial difference comapred to say an A-designs P-1.

but i don't care because this pre breathes life into my mics!!

I have to agree with you on the big and juicy. I just got the MA5 along with a Telefunken AK-47 about 2 weeks ago. Luckily I didn't have to wait for it. I did a session on acoustic guitar (Gibson wm-45) and have to say that it was one of the best acoustic sounds I have ever recorded. Very warm and full without being muddy and still detailed on the top end. Then I hit the 28k switch. OMG.

I liked it so much I found an open box special at Vintage King that I ordered today. Should have it Friday. Can't wait.

i almost hate to ask a compare question.....

anyone A/B this pre with an a-designs p-1, and if so your thoughts please.
