Yes Yes Yes TONELUX!

We have been doing extensive comparison tests and the tonelux demo rig is really, really, really rocking.
I love the mic pre, the comp is really incredible and the summing has definitely got the edge.
I haven't used the eq yet but so far the system is well above my expectations.
Thanks to the users who were forthcoming about the depth, warmth and punch. It integrates very well with my funky ole retro stuff.
I seriously see this as my personal future of analogue hybrid recording and mixing.
I don't need a big board when this sounds as big and to my ears better than most.

IMO the Tonelux is a really sonically powerful, analog I/O with a very small 4-rack space footprint.

how do you guys recall tonelux EQs? I have had problems to see where exactly the freq. is..

also OP-burning is solved?

preamps are killer.. dont like the comps.

Just got my 1st Tonelux rack ordered the other day. Great to hear more praise for it!

I got some of everything...a couple of comps, 4 pres, couple of MX1's, couple of FX2's, an SM8 and the CR2.

for me, tonelux was not developed till the end..

we had a testrack, and we had one broken motherboard, 2 burned OP amps and and humming EQ.

I gave it back after 2 weeks of hassle..

that's it. never ordered a second demorack, I dont touch it anymore...

but.. I had the best kicksound of my life..for about 2hours..

I have a 4 V-rack system with 64 modules. Each module has between 2 and 4 op amps. I'd estimate that to be close to 200 op amps total. I've lost one TX-260 and 2 TX-240's over the course of two years. They are socket mount, and I have extras, so they were replaced on the spot.

I have not had any problems since arranging the V-racks for good ventilation (a half space above and below).

I haven't heard about this op amp burning thing until now....

From what I understand the op amp thing is an old issue. Something to do with the coating process at least a year and a half ago if not longer. I haven't dealt with an op amp in a year. Think the suspect amps have long left my system. Now that the modules are socketed it's no sweat to pop and swap if it happens.
I bought my system July 2006 and have never had any big problems. Very low maitenance.

Depends on the modules. A rack of standard MX2, FX2, or TR8 will not get hot. If you add the summing or the direct out options, with the extra op amps, they can get hot. A rack of EQs can get hot too. I keep a half space between my racks, and some space above.

I think the racks do much better vertically too. They are designed to transfer heat vertically. If you have them in a Sterling or other horizontal rack, the heat tends to flow up towards the face of the modules, where there is nowhere for it to escape. This is how I have my racks, so I leave the half space. Active airflow is another option, but I haven't found the need for that.
