Yep, great game, could've gone either way, both teams had some good breaks, and some bad ones. I thought Detroit looked a little tight in the 2nd (I missed the 1st period), but back to form in the 3rd. How'd you like that Franzen goal? He's looking like he's back to his old self, maybe 100% for Saturday. Hope Holmstrom isn't hurt badly.

Should be another great game!

Pens are going to pull this out. The "kids" had to get some big game experience ...the hard way. ;)

Turnovers in your own zone will kill you every time especially against the Pens

Franzen crapped all over the Pens D

so glad the pens woke up. i was dreading the thought of a sweep.

hopefully the level of play stays consistent. some good hits from both teams and for a while the pens were on a rampage w/the hits. they were really flying around.

i'm sure the red wings will take this in stride though. can't wait for games 4,5 and hopefully 6 and 7!

man...you guys are just a better team.

we can play with you, but your experience shows...

its okay, still in it for the long fight.

i have to give it to detroit tho, they came to play some serious hockey.

that 5 on 3 was pathetic, alot the young pens still need to learn.

as always, monday night LETS GO PENS!

It was another great game! Pens nearly tied it at the end, but it didn't happen.

I wonder how the pens will respond on Monday. I think it was a tough loss, breaking their home win streak, giving up the lead, etc. They might bounce back, but it'll be tough in Detroit.

We'll see, the Pens have played the wings tough these last two games, but they need to study those Dallas games to see how to shut the wings down. It's all about chipping it in, forechecking and wearing them out. Also, they need to get their sticks on the ice and cutoff the outlet passing. I think they've done that pretty well, but Detroit is just slowing it down, and being more methodical. Less offense from the Wings in that style, but practically impossible to score on.

It's great seeing two of the best offenses in hockey play great defense!

The last two games have been great playoff hockey! We (hockey fans) deserved this matchup in the final. Incredible offensive players playing unbelievable defense.

As a Wings fan, I hoping to wrap it up Monday night. But I have to give props to the Pens. These young players are extremely talented and will be dominate in the league for years to come.

GO WINGS!

Great game, I was about having a heart attack for the last 2 hours!

The Gonchar bit at the end was too much. Like a Hollywood movie...

I'm feeling deja vu, I've seen games like this many times, with the wings outshooting the other team like crazy, only to lose. Fleury played fantastic, the rest of the Pens looked liked whipped dogs.

The next game should be another barn burner, this is great for the game of hockey, having these games on NBC is fantastic, too. They should have been covering the whole playoffs, at least the conference finals. I have versus, and their coverage was fine (though the camera work on the last Dallas V San Jose game was awful!,) but hockey really needs to be on broadcast, in my opinion. Or at least basic cable, like ESPN in the past.

All in all, I thought the Wings looked solid tonight, and as much as the last couple games could have gone either way, tonight's game could have gone the Wings' way about 30 times.

We'll see if my original prediction (wings in 6) comes true, although I was hoping they'd finish it in Detroit!

Is this the beginning of a renaissance in Hockey's popularity?

Anybody care to make any predictions for tonight?

I think it could be a shootout. Zetterburg, Datsuk, Franzen, Lindstrom, Holmstrom are all due to score. I'm predicting a 3-0 lead after the first for Detroit.

I think the Pens will make a game of it, but I think Detroit will be more of a machine tonight. You could see how bad they wanted to end it in Detroit, they were taking mediocre shots and pushing forward more than they should have been. The Adrenaline got them in the end, I think they were let down giving up an easy goal with :30 left.

If it were me, I'd seriously consider bringing Haseck in. He played poorly in the first round, but he's a seasoned guy, not terribly prone to choking. Osgood, on the other hand, has a bit of a history of choking and giving up easy ones. In fact, I think Detroit traded him away after he choked the last time...

Well, congratz to the wings fans...

I'm certainly disappointed that the Pens lost, but I'm very happy and grateful for a great season, and I look forward to the next few years of top notch hockey in Pgh...

Again, hats off to the wings, but as always, GO PENS!

john you nailed it on the head man.

they came out and took the cup. they deserve it, they played hard, and when we came to play they played even harder.
good for the wings, they deserve it.

good for the pens, what a hell of a hockey series that was.

next year and the next 5 years we are going to have excellent hockey here in pittsburgh, i might stick around and enjoy it.

good playoff hockey man o man.
