Disappointing that they lost Samuelsson, though!

I'm a little surprised that Chicago took on Hossa, for 12 years!

Pens have kept most of the team together so far, re-signing Guerin, Fedetenko, etc. Gill and Scuderi are are gone, of course...
But we have the dirtyest player in the NHL

Alright, anyone care to make predictions for this year?

Wings will be good, probably top 3 as far as points go. I doubt they'll make the finals, they're going for a bit of rebuilding this year, which is good, of course. I expect they'll possibly make the conference finals, but it all depends on luck, injuries, you know. But I think they look good, now if they could just get a few more Swedes...

Penguins should do well, but things get a little harder when you're the top dog. we'll see how they respond to being the 'big game' for every team they face. It's been tough to repeat in the NHL, but they have most of their team together again this year, so who knows?

Washington and Chicago will be the interesting teams to watch, I think. I bet one of them will make the finals.

Hockey's back! Woohoo!

ahh...the dark times of baseball only are in the rear-view mirror...finally!

the Pens are a decent bet to make it all the way again, but as a Flyer fan,
i can only hope this is the year they step-up.

'course, i know it'll be a sad June for me. they just don't seem to have
the heart for it. or the coach. or the system.

on the up-side, we now have the Dallas Stars farm team right
outside of Austin playing in a brand new rink. i may have to
actually care about the Stars now.

GAME ON!!!

I don't know how familiar eastern conference fans are, but Pronger is probably one of the best playoff players around. He's a great player, both directions, and he's mean as hell. I'm glad he won't be in the Western playoffs, he's been a thorn in the Wings' side for years!

i've worshiped him from afar for many years...if only for
his massive shot from the point.

ok, i hereby take back what i said in my earlier post. we're 2-0 in this
young season but i've seen things from the Flyers i haven't seen
since the Terry Murray years.

Gearslutz and hockey...two great tastes that taste great together.

I'll never forget the Wings V Blues game where Pronger blocked a slapshot and dropped like a rock. They said he had a hear t attack, but he recovered!

Yes they did, but it was an awesome game to watch. Just not so much if you were a pens fan. But I always love a exciting game and we will take the point.

I'm a pens fan through and through, even all the years they didn't stand a chance in hell of making the playoffs, I watched every game I could and cheered them on anyway.
It's still early. As long as they're in the hunt for the playoffs I'm fine. They don't want to peek to early.

well, the Flyers will hurt me in the end, but i am enjoying our new coach, a real system,
and beating the Devils 2 games in a row!

your Pens have some amazing players and amazing team chemistry....i'm envious.

Hmmm, Wings might make the playoffs, we'll see... Been a tough year!

Pens look good, but they've been faltering a little. Think they can get by the Devils, should they meet in the conference finals?

Washington is still my pick for the East this year.

I liked the Blackhawks, and they're still great, but the goaltending is a little questionable. Coyotes are looking like a dark horse, which is fun!

Sharks will go down in the 1st round, again. Probably to Detroit (if they hang on!)

Can't wait for the playoffs!

You Pens fans are lucky to have a real pro hockey team in your town. And I don't mean that you're lucky to have a team because the Pens were on the brink of leaving town a few years ago. I mean you're lucky because I live in Toronto and have had to endure decades of utter crapulence known as the Minor Leagues, uh... I mean the Maple Leafs! I'm so jealous!!!

Hope the Pens meet the Caps at some point in the playoffs. That matchup is always great.

Hoping Chicago makes it to the final. Darkhorse team from the west: Phoenix.

Let the real NHL season begin!

Well you know me, I'm gonna say Pens all the way, but they better show some intensity. If they play like they played their last ten games they won't make it past the first round. Maybe they have matured enough to turn it on in the playoffs, I hope so!!

Game starts in like ten minutes, gotta go!!

Well being a life long Caps fan I would have to say LETS GO CAPS!!!!

But we do have some defensive/ goal tending issues to overcome. As long as we don't allow more than 4 goals a game we should be fine.

I am surprised that the Wings didn't win last night. They looked so fast in the first period. They used a lot of speed and slick one touch passing coming through the neutral zone. I thought man this is a team that can move the puck. They just couldn't finish. Of course I only watched the first period being an east coaster.

the caps seem determined as hell and they look unstoppable.

the pens seemed a little sluggish yesterday... but had some bad luck and fluery wasn't on his game. that could have been the difference. they keep getting 'too cute' w/the puck instead of throwing it at the net a little more often.

the detroit/phoenix series looks like it'll be a good one.. same for avs/sharks.. i love the playoffs!

They've been playing like this for weeks now. It's driving me nuts. Get the puck to the net and good things will happen, knock your opponent off the puck and good things will happen. Keep playing the way they are and the only good things to happen will be on the golf course, cause they'll be out in the first round.

And yes I love playoff hockey too

I think the pens are showing a little playoff fatigue. They played the whole season two years ago, to the finals, then again last year. I've seen the wings do this, too. That's part of why it's so hard to repeat in the NHL.

The wings had an advantage this year, in terms of having lots of injuries. It sounds backward, but those guys all took a lot of time off, and are starting to hit their strides in the last few weeks.

I'm torn, being a Coyote fan and a Wings fan. I'd love to see the Wings go all the way and avenge last year's sorry performance in the finals, but on the other hand, beating the Wings would be the biggest ting to happen to hockey in Phoenix, ever. Attendance is finally looking good, phoenix is a fair-weather town, if they can win, they'll be fine. If they start to lose again, they'll be moving to Canada.

The Pens won't make it. I just think they're worn out, lost the fire, not deep enough.

My prediction is still Wings and Blackhawks in the west, Wings win (Chicago goaltending is still too soft.)

In the east, I think the caps are great, but New Jersey is one to watch, too. If Broduer gets his game going, he can carry them all the way.

If the Coyotes do beat the Wings (50% chance), they can go all the way to the finals.

agreed. i haven't seen Boosh play like that since the deep
play-off run of 10 or so years ago.

time for our forwards to get more creative. loving Giroux (sp)
cause he definitely pulls some rabbits out of hats. i know
Carter is still not 100%, but take a damn shot tonight, ok?

anyway...rmx16...i'm way out here in Texas, so it's tough to
talk hockey around here...so it's another reason to love Gearslutz.
