Thread Starter | Non-profit Studio for teens in Portland, OR
For those of you who haven't heard the good news yet, there is a new non-profit recording studio for teens opening in NE Portland, OR this summer. http://www.oldlibrarystudio.org Here's the skinny: The Old Library Studio: a 501(c)(3) nonprofit music recording studio and music technology education center for teens What we do: We teach teens about music, by encouraging them to make their own music. Creating music is an excellent way to learn about music, and it's something that teens really like to do. Our classes do not require prior music theory, instrument training, singing ability, composition experience, ear training, or perfect pitch, etc. The Old Library Studio invites students with basic computer skills and a strong interest in creating music to explore their musical creativity through music production courses at our facility. We teach our students: You can be a composer; you can create your own music if you want to. We want our students to create music in their own style, and through whatever means they wish. We work at all times to help our students expand their definition of music, through music listening workshops and community concerts. For more details visit our website: http://www.oldlibrarystudio.org/program.html The Old Library Studio is project of NW Digital Art Kids, a Portland-based nonprofit organization that places technology in the hands of young artists. The studio is located in the former hollywood library branch, which stands on the corner of NE Hancock and NE 40th in Portland, OR We love to hear from you: Email us (you can just send a private message through the gearslutz site) or call 971.570.3047

All studios are non-profit these days. ![]() I've actually thought myself of making it official and taking arts grants and the like. Good luck on your project! |

There is a studio in my town that is "christian" and is available (without engineer) for free. I'm pretty sure they're associated with a church.. This could be the new business model - think about how many recording artists (at least that I see) are christian and doing christian music.....30% to 50% it seems? | |
