I never owned a sell in my entire life....Ii hate to be attached to devices like cells.... I was thinking that if the iPhone is cool enough I finally would get a cellphone... But not Instant messaging...only AT&T network.....and a lack of other cool features standard in other intelligent cellphones......no...I wil wait for the next "cool advanced cellphone"

I love mine. The only thing that sucks is the keypad takes some getting used to. Other than that -- it's a quantum leap. God help me, now I'll never not be lookinng at Gearslutz.

blackberry died last month, but was solid as a rock for 3 yrs. I accidentally kicked that sucker like a hockey puck on more than one occasion.. I'm not so sure the iphone would live through that. I want an iphone with 60gig of storage.

End of day 1: Still pretty cooool. I've never owned an Apple product; just used 'em at various studios. I drank the kool-aid this time, I suppose. Battery life: mediocre. I won't have a problem with it, but people who LIVE on the thing will be screwed. Call Quality: slightly artifacty, but much, much clearer then I'm used too. A few other trusted sets of ears made comment on that as well. As with all things apple, it was really easy to set up and use. Number portability was super easy too. Typing is a breeze. I'm getting pretty fast and it's only been a day (with a session in it no less!) Pictures, web browsing, etc. rock. I particularly love the fact that it's not too coddling (as some mac apps can be) And yes, GS can be browsed and replied to on it! My Gmail account sync was as easy as logging in. Hmmmm . . . what else? I'd give it 4.5/5. V2 will be better, but I'm not really regretting anything the next day. Give it a few more I suppose. . . PS. No WMV support yet. ie. no CNN video feeds. Podcasts are OK.

Hmm.... ![]() I guess I will be treating my Treo 650, which is torn & frayed to a new battery.. and hope it holds together until the Iphone hits the UK shores...

The thing is badass..played with my friends iphone all the internet/browsing is light years ahead of any other handheld[i was using broadband on it,pretty snappy] surely it will only get better/evolve pretty quickly too[probably wait for next version] Right away,I would want a camera that can flip front to back[for ichat, etc] and video recording. |

Alright.. I geeked out and went to the ATT store and got some hands on. Amazing. This thing is going to blow up, but I'll definitely wait till the first year is over and the bugs/ pricing/ features all settle. My biggest gripe was the virtual keyboard, and it did suck for the first few minutes, but at the end of a half an hour it was ripping pretty good. I think that i could easily approach blackberry speeds of data entry in a week. the dedicated apps like Googlemaps, youtube etc are cool too, the web browser was surprisingly fast and being able to resize is oh so cool . Call quality was nice... better than my blackberry. Don't know about the bluetooth performance. I'll give it a year, and at that point i want to see: 30 gig or more storage? Ability to partition that storage to throw a PT session on to shuttle in a pinch. 3G Video capability- very important. GPS and turn by turn capability. I'd also hope that third party's could develop add ons ala the ipod for stereo field recording etc. I think Convergent devices are the way of the future, and we're seeing the first product that is really going to get that across to the public. The next couple years will be very interesting indeed. Being able to run a couple more apps would be nice... something like PAGES and maybe a mini bluetooth keyboard.. Anything to avoid toting the laptop.. |

I thought I read somewhere that the battery is not removable? If this is so then what do you do when the battery is spent? |
