God on high
Hear my prayer
In my need
You have always been there

He is young
He's afraid
Let him rest
Heaven blessed.
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.

He's like the son I might have known
If God had granted me a son.
The summers die
One by one
How soon they fly
On and on
And I am old
And will be gone.

Bring him peace
Bring him joy
He is young
He is only a boy

You can take
You can give
Let him be
Let him live
If I die, let me die
Let him live
Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home.
Chris Murray's Bring Ihn Heim is pretty awesome too. And the 10th Anniversary Little Fall of Rain is DEVASTATION ON THE SOUL.

Wait. Where is River of Tears on the list!?!?!?

Schindlers List by John Williams is the most sad one for me.

Others that come close :

Rachmaninov - Vocalise

Gary Moore : The Loner

Gary Moore - Still got the blues

George Michael - Careless Whisper

Amazing that there are no songs in any other language than english in top 25.
Try middle eastern, eastern Europian, Turkish etc.. if you wanna hear what SAD means. Sometimes don't even have to understand all the lyrics, but those melodies and voices just tear your heart out.

I was going to say that Jehh Buckley's track gets my number one. Untill i read your post and remembered the lyrics.

Damn that is a sad song, and a terrible loss.

Neil Young - Philadelphia. You need to watch the movie "Philadelphia" to get the full effect of that song.

Shannon- Henry Gross - YouTube

should be #1....I'm 42 now, and fist heard it as a kid in the '70s....still makes me misty

Henry was a friend of the late Carl Wilson (Beach Boys). This was written for a dog that Carl had that died.
