Just signed to CBS Records....

Hey slutz,
The duo I'm in, just singed to CBS....since this is the good news forum, I thought I'd post! If you want to check it out, our ep is on itunes now...search 'The Wilshires' on itunes.

Now for the gearslut-ness of this post -- 3 of the mixes on the 5 song ep were mixed a couple of years ago by my buddy (great mixer) in PT HD, and 2 of them I mixed via Radar and board.
All mixes are good -- so what I'm saying is, it's all about what the mixer is used to working on. I still feel there's a difference in aesthetic and feel between the 2 methodologies. But whatever.

ALSO -- turns out a fellow gearslut was recommended to master -- gearslut Dave Mcnair. Small world.

Congrats on the signing! It's always a buzz when someone else gets behind your art.

Though now you're signed to a major, you may have to change your sign in name...

hahaha well, we were signed to Columbia a few years ago. What's nice about this is that it's a cool opportunity for licensing our tunes on tv.
I'm going to say that even though it's cbs, it's still indie...so I don't have to change my name.

Congrats, that's awesome! I just listened to some of your songs on your myspace page. I love the way the song "Shine" starts off, so dreamy; I like the guitar and the male vocals in the background. I'm not sure what style you categorize yourself but I've been noticing that Country and Alt/Country type genres seem to be really flourishing right now. I know I used to NEVER listen to country but I find myself checking out CMT when I'm channel surfing to see what's going on. I like Alt/Country if that's what it's called, I'm not even sure...

hey thanks man....I really don't know what category we're in either. we're a mish-mash of lots of things i guess. we love emmy lou harris, radiohead, travis. basically anything that's gtr oriented and melodic.

thanks for the comments on the gtrs. by the way...all my electrics are: amp > palmer box d.i. etc.

thanks everybody!thumbsup

While we're talking about signings, I'm proud to announce I just signed a deal with Columbia!

It's actually a really great deal--I get 12 CD's for a penny, and I only have to buy one more CD at regular price!
