As much as I am against the idea of the Led Zeppelin without Bonzo... I'm pretty sure you'll find me on their LA/OC stop... |

| My Votes for Drummers
Michael Lee was great to watch and listen to but I don't know if a dead copy of Bonham is the way to go necessarily.Alternatively I really hope they don't pull a 'Kenny Jones' type experiment. I remember Phil Collins sounded great with Zeppelin on Live Aid. He also sounds stellar on 'Pictures at Eleven' - unfortunately the syrupy $hite he continues to write sometimes obscures the fact that he is a great drummer, with amazing feel, style, chops and sound. I think Abe Laboriel (McCartney's current tour drummer) would be an amazing fit with this 'reunion'. Abe would fit the bill quite nicely. As an outside shot it would be interesting to see Kenny Arnoff take a crack at it. He has a nice mix of groove and chops. I would definitely go see them live, I really enjoyed some of the stuff they did for the Page/Plant reunion

The guy that designed my studio, Chris Huston, was one of Led Zeppelin's engineers. I can just sit for hours listening to him tell his stories of their recording sessions and how everyone in the studio was scared to say anything bad. Too funny... Regards, Bruce |

I'd be much more concerned about the vocals than the drums. I saw a recent Robert Plant show on Rave, an HD all music channel. Wow, was it depressing. Plant's range is completely gone, and what's left sounds pretty awful. He has easily one of the best voices and ranges in rock history. And it's just that--history. I'd save my money and hit the Genesis reunion tour. |

His band, Undertaker (I think) had an opening band called The Beatles back in the day.

Granted, I'd rather see PG sing the Lamb, but I'll take what I can get. "Home By the Sea" still rocks. |

[QUOTE=max cooper;1091362]I suddenly got this visual of a Tyrannosaurus Rex using a walker. Seriously, JPJ has always been underrated. Great key and bass player. Too bad they left him no room or space on the first albums. Still great records. And the mellotron stuff is lovely. Plant sings VERY GOOD these days. The high pitch growl? That's another question. |

Just pulled from the Blabbermouth site in case there is any question as to the status of a Led Zeppelin reunion: According to Launch Radio Networks, Robert Plant says that, although there's no bad blood between him and LED ZEPPELIN co-founder Jimmy Page, the two have fallen out of touch. Plant spoke to Britain's Mojo magazine, who asked him if he and Page, who co-wrote most of the band's most popular material, are still in contact. Plant said, "No. I'd like to talk to him but I never do. Lives change. The unfortunate thing is that whenever John (Paul Jones), Jimmy and myself meet up, the points of reference are always about the past. If there wasn't any previous triumph then we probably wouldn't be in touch." Launch asked Plant why he hasn't been gung-ho for a full-scale LED ZEPPELIN reunion. "It's not that I've been obstructive," he replied. "It's just that it meant what it meant when it meant it, and beyond that there was no story, and with John's (Bonham) passing and all that stuff, it was gone. There's no need for it." LED ZEPPELIN's drummer John Bonham died on September 25, 1980. On December 4, 1980, the band announced that they had broken up. Several weeks ago, a five-year-old report from The Sun Online claiming that a ZEPPELIN reunion was in the works reappeared on various news web sites (who were apparently unaware of the article's original publication date), refueling rumors of a possible tour. Since disbanding, Plant, Page and Jones have reformed live three times as LED ZEPPELIN; On July 13, 1985 at Live Aid in Philadelphia with Tony Thompson and Phil Collins on drums; on May 18, 1988 at the Atlantic Records' 40th anniversary concert at New York's Madison Square Garden with John Bonham's son Jason Bonham on drums; and on January 12, 1995, when the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with Jason Bonham again filling in for his dad. Plant and Page reformed as a duo in the mid-'90s and released two albums, the live album "No Quarter: Jimmy Page And Robert Plant Unledded" and 1998's studio set "Walking Into Clarksdale". The two also toured and performed a ZEPPELIN-heavy setlist. Robert Plant is currently recording his latest solo set in Nashville. |
