Thread Starter | High End Gear and Pesticides I'm moving Down Under and I've been warned the relevant bureau might want to spray anything containing wood with pesticides. I'm shipping some nice high end outboard, mounted in custom wood cabinets, plus 3 drum kits and a very rare vintage modular synthesizer in a wood cabinet. Any ideas if the pesticide is a very fine spray, or should I be worried about damage to old electronic circuits and chips? It would be a mega hassle to remove all my esoteric electonics from every single cabinet (power supplies and xlr's wired in etc). Any of you Aussie Gearslutz been through this before? |

| Hi chrisso, Some of my mates have moved here from the US, and Ive had heaps of 1920's radio wooden stuff posted, none of which was sprayed. Ihav'nt heard of any problems, I think that if your gear was treated, it would be like house fumigation not sprayed on or anything, Id be more worried about air pollution salty stuff. When you pack your gear you could mebbe put some chemical inside to keep the air dry. However, aussie customs should be happy to answer any questions at this end. Kind regards Marty. |

Thread Starter | Thanks Marty! And good tip about the salt packs. I'll also speak to the shipping company. Cheers. |
