Converting Cry Baby to Cry Baby Bass

Hi everyone

Just looking for a little help. I have a cry baby pedal and instead of dropping another 200 bucks for a bass version, id like to convert my currnt one to the bass version. I hear that a change of a few caps on the main board will lower the frequency range of the pedal. Currently it only wahs notes above b, same frequency as a 7 string. The change in the caps lowers reactance i guess and allows lower frequencies through. If anyone knows where i can find a schematic or knows of another thread with this info, please post

Thanks
Ryan

The cry baby is a state variable filter hooked up as a LPF with a high Q, If I remember correctly.

If you double the capacitance on the integrators, you'll lower the frequency one octive.

I don't see any integrators though, but doubling capacitances indeed will shift resonance frequencies down. But I don't know if it is what needed, since resonances mimic human articulations. Most probably, you need to use 0.1 mF capacitor instead of 0.01mF on the input...

That's a little different than the newer op-amp bassed circuits.

You'll need to change the inductor in that one, or the low frequency gain of that first stage will be low.

What Wavebourn said. That'll get the signal in at least. Check Geofex's technology of the wah article for info if you want to play with the frequency center.

Tom;

a bit off-topic. If you tried remote cutt-off pentodes in preamps instead of sharp cutt-off pentodes, do you think the sound coloration may be demanded by gutarists?

On-topic: long time ago I tried a wah with couple of filters in parallel, it sounds much more musically, more as the real human articulation. There were 2-transistor filters with T-bridges in feedback. Sounds were more complex, like like "Ieah - Youh -Yuuh!" :)
I called it a "Double - Formant Wah" :)
