Hi

Martinsound make a replacement amplifier for the EMT and even control circuitry for the plate...

As Geoff said, the line of electronics for the 140 is nearly over. I contacted them a few months ago for some stuff that never arrived w/ our purchase from an east coast company. MartinSound still had some stuff in stock, but it's soon will be limited and actually some stuff may be gone by now depending on recent sales, but get in touch with them ASAP. The martinsound electronics for the 140 are amazing.
If they're out, send me a PM, I can give you the east coast company that I got our 140 from as they should still have a bunch of electronics (I think mostly tube amplifiers if I recall properly) sitting on the shelf, but I'd recommend MartinSound first.

5 year bump, I'm a little late to the party.
I've got a 140 tube mono, and the amp is dead. I've got it in the shop, but I'd really like to upgrade to solid state stereo. I watch online classifieds and ebay like a hawk, but no joy. Are there any resources left, or am I going to have to build one from a schematic or DIY it with off the shelf pickups and preamps?

No, but to be honest, I was hoping for a solution in the states before investigating international options. I suppose I should at least shoot an email... seeking overseas solutions might be my only option, seeing how old this thing is.

Hi Folks,

Their website not down - address is 'www.danfield-audio.com'.

There is an amazing replacement board for designed by Freddy of Danfield Audio in Copenhagen for the EMT series plates and is available right now. I think it is installed in about 8 to 10 replacement systems around Europe - and is usually done as a custom retrofit. Furthermore, it has various filtering, limiting, balancing and calibration options that puts the plate design firmly into the 21 century.

But the electronics installation is not usually the problem.

The correct replacement EMT connectors are as rare as hens teeth. And they are the fundamental link in the sonic performance of the entire design.

So if anyone out there knows where these connectors can be found - they would love to know.

Alternatively, they might just make their own, and release it as a product if there is a big need for this particular retrofit design.

Are we talking about the plug on the end of the pickup wire that plugs into the amp?

How about one of these:

if it's a tight fit, replace the jack with this:

Hmm, it's working on my computer...
Those are linking to the motorola type plug and jack found in car radio antenna connections. That's what I used, fits perfectly!
