Help: Replace attentuator in Mytek 8x192

The attentuator in my Mytek 8x192 has given up and I need to replace it. The question is: whith what? As far as I can tell (the serial sticker is smudged) the one in the unit is an ELMA 04-2100. I see that ELMA has several atts that seem to be replacements for it, but I must admit that I'm a bit confused as to which is the correct one to get. If I could only be sure about the one already installed I could of course just look up its data sheet, but given the lack of markings, it's (quasi-educated ) guess-work and I don't like it.

So, what should I be looking for? I'm guessing that 2-pole, 24 positions is a good starting point, but what about resistor values? A-, N- or R-series? Does anybody know?

I have asked Mytek about this but not heard anything from them for months (which, to my experience, is quite uncharacteristic and odd.)

Thanks,
j,

24 positions for sure, since thats stated on the Mytek manual. Practically speaking, a rotary switch is a rotary switch is a rotary switch, but there may be subtle differences between the series for example contact plating and more importantly if its shorting or non shoritng AKA make before break or break before make...

Thanks for the input. My main problem is that the pot needs to fitted with a bunch of resistors, whose values I don't know (unless I cut off the ones on the old pot and measure/read them, then refit - urgh...). I see that ELMA's N-series comes with pre-fitted resistors, but the value(s) I should aim for, I don't know. (And, my main supplier here (ELFA) doesn't even stock the N-series, so I have to buy cross-border, thus I'd _really_ like to be sure about which one to get. They're pretty expensive, unfortunately.)

Anybody got a clue to give?

Thanks,
j,

The switch and circuit can be upgraded at Mytek EU office easily. I just wrote you letter about RMA. Best Regards, Michal at Mytek New York

Ditto, Michal's been great throughout. My initial question seems to have got lost in their automated request system, but a direct mail solved all.

Cheers,

I thought I'd just end this with a final update, the unit has arrived after spending the Cristmas in Poland, brandishing a shiny new pot. All is in lovely working order, and now permanently hooked up to my (stunningly good) new HD800s. Mytek's service has been really good, not to mention the friendlyness from the Polish crew.
