Langevin DVC

Hello all (or more specifically EveAnna)
I plan on using the DVC I recently purchased for ribbon mics and would like to adjust the internal gain. Is there anything that needs to be adjusted / observed besides cranking the internal trim pots up to max??
Will there be any cons w/ other mics?
Also I have the choice to run the outs into a Presonus Digimax fs / an 8Pre / an mbox 2 pro or an ultralite. I am making a guess that the ultralite would be the way to go as I believe it is the only one that has balanced inputs and does not go through any gain staging..
Any input at all on this unit would be wonderful and greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Rand

Try it as is first, should already be up to the task for ribbons......

Try a cloudlifter.
Cloudlifter preamp review
In a good and thorough design, the gain range isn't the way it is by chance. If you mess with something like that in the circuit it's likely you won't make yourself happy. So leave the DVC as it is and IF you need more gain, throw something like the cloudlifter in front of it and rest the case. I don't know the schematic of the DVC by heart but it could be not all trimmers are for gain... there are other things that need a trimpot, too.

thanks for your thoughts on the matter.
After trying a ribbon mic on with my voice I believe there will be enough gain for my purposes.
I did call Manley and Paul(tech) was very helpful.
He said that it wasn't really built w/ ribbons in mind and they might sound "wobbly"
The internal pots are gain pots (but there fare several adjustable pots) but looking at the provided schematic and upon opening it up I wasn't sure if I was looking at the same pots so I left well enough alone..
Thanks again
