802 series2 no sound whatsoever PLEASE help!

Before I start, I know Bose are crap, i shouldnt even bother etc.. but i need to repair, cant afford anything else!

The unit is completely dead, no sound whatsoever (tried different cables channels etc)

replaced fuse at the back no joy... opened it up and everything appears fine (although its a nightmare to get inside and have a good look)

any ideas?

any help would be much appriciated! :-)

Do you have a digital meter? They are quite inexpensive and indispensable for electrical and electronic repair. You could try the usual methods of measuring the resistance across the input, check each speaker, etc. Sounds like a simple discontinuity in the signal path. It could be just one speaker if they are in series, etc (like Christmas-tree lights).

Yes, I believe they are a series / parallel arrangement of the 8 speakers. It's been years, though...
Best,

IIRC Bose later went to 9x .9 Ohm drivers in series to reduce cost. One open voice coil and whole string does dead, just like old christmas tree lights.

Original ones were series/parallel, that is why they used 9 drivers so impedance came out neatly using 3 strings of 3 drivers each.
