Akai S1000 consistent static on playback
Hey everyone,

Recently purchased akais1000 on eBay, cleaned it up etc and now ready. Unfortunately with every sample I record...their is a static noise that plays at the 2.4 second mark, and around 8/9 seconds that sounds different. The sound of the static is similar to turning a dirty pot. Any sample recorded less than 2.3 seconds sounds fine, anything past that and the same noises show up. No noise in test sounds already in machine. Any idea what this could be and possible fix?

Bad memory chip maybe?

If they are in sockets you could swap them around and see if the static sound moves in time.

Yes. Sounds like a RAM issue.

Ive heard that mentioned before so I think it was a limitation in the machine somehow. Might be a fix, but then its likely not a component swap but a mod.
