Plugin controller build.

Ok, so I'm building some midi controllers for my most used plugs...I am not an expert, but I am having success in achieving what I set out to do.

My question is regarding the metering. I was wondering if there is a way to get an analog VU meter to mimic what the meter on the plug is doing...take an LA-2A for example. I am able to wire all of the pots and switches without a problem, I haven't even tried to incorporate a VU meter into the controller, because I was unsure if it were even possible.

Sorry if this is an amateur question...but I am an amateur.

I think that the VU meter would need an audio feed to measure.

I think I have it. Your DAW has to have the capability of sending a signal out to a piece of hardware and then having it come back in like a plugin. A good example of this functionality is Pipeline in Studio One (Pipeline ). You would place the pipeline plugin right after the plugin for the controller and then connect the VU meter to one input and output. When you were done with that channel, you would have to delete the pipeline and reconfigure it on the next channel.
