troubleshooting ?

It is really hard to find those but there are people with tons of knowledge on the ensoniq brand. There is a yahoo user group with a few guys that worked for ensoniq back in the day as well as users that have REed the boards.

Most if not all of ensoniq's repairs were board replacement. Then the ensoniq technician would repair the defective board and it would go back into stock. This is why the service manuals are set up the way they are.

HTH

You wont find the service manual for free on the web.
Do you have an EPS or an EPS-16 plus?

You will have to pay for a manual, but how much useful information it will contain I don't know.

Try here bottom of the page.

Books and Manuals for the Ensoniq ASR, EPS and EPS-16 Plus Samplers

There is a little bit of info here

That's a self-test mode. It happens when the display microcontroller isn't getting anything from the CPU. It's usually a problem with the cable.

The EPS is there. Don't know how close it is to the EPS-16, but might help.

Just try reseating it. The connectors tend to oxidize. When my EPS starts going weird, that's the first thing I do...

changed the cable with my eps cable and now it works! Great Info here. So i need a new cable but shipping from syntaur.com costs as much as the cable. Could someone tell me which cable is replacement for it? Any PC Cable that could do the job?

I didn't meant to imply that the cable itself is bad. Usually it just needs to be reseated. Try putting the original cable back in. If it doesn't work, you can replace the connectors on the ends. The cable itself is probably fine, unless it's been pinched or cut.

understood but it wasnt the case for mine. i changes cables and the problem still existed. I traced it down to a capacitor. now i have to just change the capacitor

But for some strange reason in go straight to the components level instead of the ribbon cables as the asr10 service manuals suggest. i do check them first though.

Good thing you found the issue.
