Bae 312a hot transformer

Hello I was working and my Bae preamp 500 series got a low signal with noise, after when I push the 48 V 2 times the sound came back, after some days my preamp is dead, I felt the transformer Hot, I think is just the transformer, I really dont now , anyone have had the same situation??

I have to take it with a person than can fix it but.

bae 312a preamp is the same schematics than api 512? I am using a lunchbox 6b

any help?

thanks in advance

Which transformer is getting hot? The input (round) or output (rectangle)?
Do you have more than one of these preamp units? Can you swap the amplifier module?

It seems likely that something has failed in the amplifier module and is likely putting large amounts of DC current through the primary winding, making it heat up. This is dangerous for the transformer and you should get it repaired before the transformer is damaged. The most likely repair would be to replace the amplifier module. Fortunately, that is a plug-in that you can do yourself (after getting a new replacement).
