MIDI Device Plug-Ins

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to build my own control surface for Logic and I can't get the accuracy or number of controls I want out of any of the existing types (HUI, Motormix etc).

Does anyone know how I can make my own MIDI Device Plug-In (.bundle) files? I can't find any documentation out there, but I know it's possible because of all the 3rd party plugins exist.

thanks

O

I'm not sure. I am still on an old version. 7.2.3

I know that when I right click on the Logic icon in applications I can select
open package contents.. then find the different control surfaces in there.

not sure what format they are in or if you need a development kit.
I noticed that someone made one for the old IBK 10 control, but nothing
seemed to be assigned. so maybe it was a plan that never came to fruition.
how he got an unassigned control surface plug-in with the Logic distribution though
I have no idea.

not sure if there are any clues in this page.

The file inside the .bundle which looks like it handles everything is certainly a binary, so yes, I'll definitely need an SDK.

I think I might be able to accomplish something using the TouchOSC bundle though, so I'll look into that before shelling out $100 a year to Apfel!

when you mentioned accuracy, what do you mean ?

I found that when you alter automation in Logic it looks like it works at 7bit.
HUI is supposed to handle 10bit .. 14bit would be nice, especially for the main levels.

I take it, that without the SDK you could still create your own definitions in Logic.?
given it looks like you can alter any existing data there anyhow.
