Furman HDS-16 Studio Installation

So I'm installing this system into my studio. I need to run cable and put some outlets for the HRM-16 units into my walls. Just wondering if anyone knows what type of cable to buy? And where to get these 50 pin connectors that the Furmans use? Also are there just some wall through (female to female) connectors ? That would be a lifesaver instead of having to soldier a 50 pin cable to a connector!

Thanks!

Years ago I assisted with the installation of one of those systems, but the studio had ordered the cables and thru-wall plates from Furman.

Older telephone systems used the same connectors, and the cable (almost always solid core wires) is referred to as 25 pair by the Ma Bell types. However, I have NO idea if Furman followed the same pairing as Ma Bell.

Not sure if anyone helped you out, but when I researched this system awhile back, I found out that the cables/connectors have several names.

Telco 50
Centronics 50
CN50
SCSI I

These 50-pin cables are not too difficult to find; I purchased several 50 feet-long cables from a computer cable store. Look for 25-twisted pair, shielded cable.

Because the Furman HRM-THRU part number is supposedly difficult to source (or might be discontinued), search for Centronics 50 F/F gender changers (make sure it is not a terminator).

Michael Anderson at Furman is an expert in all things HDS/HRM. He was able to answer all my questions regarding an install including providing a pin out. Give him a call for any questions.
