Thread Starter | Two Amek Angela Questions
Howdy,
getting a blue Angela going over at my place and I’m running into some small quirks.
One: I am having 3db left heavy output on all four of the subgroups. Wondering why as if there was a problem in the module itself it wouldn’t affect all the subs, would it?
Two: The manual doesn’t say at what point in the path the stereo buss trim adjustment screws affect the buss. So I’m wondering basically if it’s input, output, metering, where.
Simple stuff I’m sure. But the console is new to me so there’s some learning ahead to be sure. I love it already, though.
Any info appreciated!

Howdy, ,
If you are sending to all four subs from one module, then yes, you will see the same discrepancy on all four.
The stereo buss trim is, IIRC, before the pre-fade 2-mix insert, so it affects everything you mentioned. Matt Syson could confirm or correct this info.
Best,
Ike

I own a 28 Angela Blue, I just completely restored it. Congrats on your new addition, your gonna like it once you get it up and fully running :-). As far as the subgroups do you only have one channel installed, or are you sending from any channel on the board and seeing this same db drop? If so, id say seeing the same problem on all subgroups would be a little weird. One thing I can think is that you need to calibrate your master module. There is no metering on the subgroups for the standard Angela, so im assuming your seeing the drop through the master meters no? If so id say make sure you calibrate your master buss first. As far as where in the signal path is the calibration adjustment on each channel, I cant remember off hand, but I do have all the schematics, and can look if you really need to know.

Hi
As with all things you should take it 'back to basics' and MEASURE signal level all through the chain.
Do not adjust meters or trims until you KNOW where the discrepancy lies.
Remember that any pot or fader should be turned fully UP if attempting to measure levels as 'calibration points' marked on front panels are NOT going to be accurate as they represent an 'average' of a mythical selection of controls.

Thanks everyone for offering information. After closer inspection I'm thinking it's possibly down to two things. One, there's a capacitor missing on the A30 Aux/Subgroup module....that certainly isn't correct. Some op amps were changed and not the proper replacement. Lastly, the fader elements could be worn.
And yes, I'm making measurements with levels up to max. We shall see how it all shakes out.

Well at any note, if your monitoring your levels through the master module, id say make sure it is calibrated and working properly ( module and meters ). One other thing that was causing me a lot of issues on my Angela was the patch bay, make sure all your contacts inside ( especially the normalizing connections ) are in good shape, if your having a particular problem with part of the board and it is sent to a normalized point on the bay, check out that part of the bay, wiggle your tt cables, and clean clean clean. The patch bay is a big problem causer.
