HAM Radio Multimode Filter For Music?

So I've obtained some kind of HAM radio filter. It's clearly analog and it has multiple filter modes (lowpass, hipass, notch, peak). It has a limited frequency range (250-2500hz, and an "aux. notch" band reject that goes from 80-11000) but other than that, it sounds pretty rad. What I'm wondering is, can anyone point to some fundamental difference in the construction of a "musical" filter versus these radio hobbyist filters, or is the main thing just the frequency range?

The main thing is the frequency range. Selected to optimize speech and reject noise. Also likely not a high priority for low distortion, etc. as that is not important in this application. Should be good for creating "telephonic" effects, although you can probably do just as well with your favorite editing software.
