Hey, this is my first post so i don't know what to expect but i am sure you guys rock!

I recently acquired an SPL Charisma 8 really really cheap on an ebay whim. I bought it primarily for getting extra harmonics, saturation and tightening in the box bass and drums (electronic), now that inserting external gear through my Allen & Heath R16 is as simple as a plugin! Some of the valves on the first channels are not as clean as others so need replacing anyway and i would like to add more sonic flavours so hence changing the valves.

I cannot find much info on how other valves sound in the charisma so looking for some advice. I would like a palette of clean to characterful, preferably in stereo matched pairs so i can process stereo. There are 8 slots so maybe 3 matched pairs and two used as mono.

What valves would you put in!?? any thoughts, advice and guidance would be much appreciated!! I have a pro vlaII and could maybe experiment with switching the valves in there also, however i quite like the current sound of the vla as it is.
